Such a nice and cozy place. There were no tables left, but somehow they managed to squeeze us in. And we had a great meal! Thanks guys
Love this pub. Have had Sunday lunch/ roast here several times and also midweek dinner. The quality of the food is superb. It has a nice twist to it from the traditional dishes. Portions are also decent. Mid range price but the food it's worth its price tag.
Black Dog is a really pleasant pub to spend time in.It has good facilities, and an outdoor area for the summer and smokers. The food is tasty. Main courses are typically good value. Starters really not good value, with tiny portions at high prices comparably. Real Ale selection ok. Real cider selection could be significantly improved.
This is a nice pubHowever, I came here to book a table for Saturday night.As such I thought I'd stay, have a couple of beers and wait for my wife to join me.I sat at a table with no future reservation indicated.I was asked to move to a table which was booked for about an hour after I was being moved, so that a couple could have dinner where I was sitting. No guarantee of anywhere to sit and meet my wife who was on her way.Remember, my original table was freeProbably won't bring 8 people here on Saturday now...
I would give this place a 5 star, if it wasn't for the cramped seating at busy times and the pricing on simple food and drink - although, the owner is really lovely, accommodating and easy to talk to, very polite. Would recommend this place as a stop off on the summer. You've got to bag yourself an outdoor seating space, as it feel wonderful laughing with friends on a easy afternoon, or reading a book with the sun glaring on your pages. To be fair, the pricing is in the decor and the peaceful corner location. Hardly anything rowdy happens here. Check it out !
