The best decision we made on our London trip last fall was staying at the Captain Bligh House. Excellently located, immaculate, very affordable, why would we ever look anywhere else? The room was as-described, prepared with all the amenities necessary for comfort and self-catering. Our room (The Crow's Nest) was among the treetops, quiet, and peaceful - simply charming.Transportation was easy as could be: bus stations are across the street, the Lambeth North tube station is a very short walk away, and it's just a few minutes walk to Waterloo Station which will deliver you further afield via National Rail.Plenty of dining and drinking within walking distance. The War College itself has beautiful grounds if you feel like a sunset stroll. Curiosities abound a short walk away at the Lower Marsh Market. We could spend days without leaving the vicinity and there'd still be stuff to see!Gayna and Simon were lovely hosts, providing us with detailed information about the area around the house as well as plenty more to see and do in London. Always available if we needed them, never intruding when we wanted peace and quiet.Without a doubt we will stay here again!
I've stayed at Captain Bligh House 3 times so far, and have experienced the London Rooms, the Royal Suite, and the Film Studio. All are wonderful in their own distinctive ways. Each room has a kitchen area with a small fridge, coffee- and tea-making facilities, and in the larger spaces, the ability to make one's own meals if so desired. Always stocked with the essentials: milk, jam, bread, coffee/tea, etc., this is one of the high points of staying at Bligh House. It's like having your own cozy little apartment in one of the most exciting cities in the world.The location of this B&B is brilliant. I end up walking everywhere during daylight hours: Kensington, Borough Market, the City, and am able to come home to a quiet, safe and friendly neighbourhood every evening. Gayna and Simon are the loveliest hosts on earth, and always make me feel so welcome. They will give you as much space or as much help as you need, depending on your preferences as a traveler. You'll never regret staying at Captain Bligh House. As long as they have room for me, I won't stay anywhere else!
We loved our stay at this incredibly charming B&B. It's in a great location - on a quiet street extremely convenient to several bus stops and a quick 3-minute walk to the Lambeth North underground station. The owners were wonderful hosts and made us feel right at home. We stayed in the Royal Suite and loved the room and decor - we would absolutely stay here again and hope we have the chance to, soon! We honestly didn't have a single complaint about our stay and could not have asked for better accommodations for our trip to London.
Captain Bligh House is a superb B&B centrally located in London, very close to Lambeth North tube station and within 10 minutes walk of Westminster Bridge over the Thames River which will give you great views of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. The hosts, Gayna & Simon are extremely knowledgeable about London and have very thoughtfully and tastefully decorated each of their rooms and provide a comprehensive starter pack which is very welcoming for tired travellers. Captain Bligh House is an ideal place for anyone who wishes to visit London for a few days a week is ideal & highly recommended because of its close proximity to the Royal Parks; art galleries; theatres; museums; concert venues; churches; royal palaces etc. We have stayed at Captain Bligh House more than 6 times and recommend that visitors book well ahead as it is very popular and always a pleasure to revisit with ideal hosts.
